Michele Saee
Instances of Spaces

SESV Spazio Espositivo di Santa Verdiana
Florence, 16 Nov.-7 Dec. 2001

“Extraordinary, unpredictable sculptural spaces. Sensible links between materiality and translucency. Disorientation and systematic resort to personal experience. Uncertainty as architectural method. Each building by Michele Saee, says Frédéric Migayrou, is an instance of space that forms new singularities and provokes a crisis among organized, identified elements.”

The present volume documenting the exhibition held at SESV Spazio Espositivo di Santa Verdiana, Florence, offers significant insights into Saee’s recent work. It is composed of an introductory essay by Saee himself, a presentation by Marco Brizzi, curator of the exhibition, a large section devoted to five projects by the architect, either completed or underway in California, France and Tuscany, and a brief note about Saee’s office, Building Inc.

Michele Saee lives and works in Los Angeles, California, where Building Inc. is based. He studied architecture in Florence, then went on to train with the Morphosis Group. Works by him are on permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, and the frAC Centre, Orléans, courtesy of which some models are displayed in Florence. Michele Saee is now working on major projects in Europe and the US.
