The Easter pastoral letter that the Archbishop of Florence addresses \u201cto believers and non-believers… to men and women who do not shirk the great questions that trouble the heart and mind\u201d is an invitation to ponder the meaning of silence and the Word, and their place in our lives and our spirit in an age in which \u201cthe surfeit of words and sounds around us dismays and oppresses us\u201d. As Christian literature teaches us, it is only \u201cin silence and tranquillity that the devout soul can find the path to improvement and grasp the meaning of the Sacred Scriptures\u201d.
