Duets
Art bookby James O’Mara
Individual stories bounce off one another.
Sometimes disparate, sometimes harmonious.
An aesthetic decision, a balancing act.
Two images merge to create a strong graphic and impactful narrative. The original observations of each is not lost but enhanced by becoming one. A value is placed on differences, often absurd and out of context.
A duet emerges from a process that pays attention to composition, design, colour, form, texture, and line. The combined images become unique through choices about what to include or delete.
Duets is a collection from a lifetime of visual diaries, revisited and reinvented, given new life to become something else.
