In Dudley, a small market town on the banks of a canal, lived two young brothers, Derek and Graham. As the last days of summer stretched long across the garden, to play cricket and sail their small but trusty wooden boat, the Talisman.
Graham’s bat made connection with the ball, sending it high over Derek’s head and down to the end of the garden, disappearing beneath the ivy that draped the dock wall.
Derek had already sprinted the length of the garden and was on his hands and knees rummaging beneath the ivy, his fingers brushed something unexpected. As Derek parted the tangled stems, there, nestled in the green shadows, lay a beautiful wounded white dove. The brothers decided to set sail on the Talisman and travel the world in search of someone who could heal him.
