“It is necessary to find an acceptable mediation between the requirements of heavy infrastructure at the territorial level and the need to protect and valorize the local landscapes. The ten guidelines for the sustainable design of infrastructures in relation to the landscape formulated here intend to focus on this objective. These guidelines have been drawn up as part of the INFRASCAPE initiative, an inter-university research and exchange network promoted by the Dipartimento Ambiente Reti e Territorio (DART) at the University of Chieti-Pescara.”

The INFRASCAPE guidelines are supported by DARC – Direzione Generale per l’Architettura e l’Arte Contemporanee del Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali and by SIU – Società Italiana degli Urbanisti. They are also supported by architects and urban planners from all over Europe. The volume, edited by Paola Cannavò of studio.eu, includes an introduction and ten thematic sections.
