Spaces and dreams
Junioredited by James M. Bradburne
This slim volume was written with children and families in mind. Published to accompany the exhibition entitled “De Chirico, Max Ernst, Magritte, Balthus. A Look into the Invisible” exhibition (Florence, Palazzo Strozzi, 26 February–18 July 2010), it is an opportunity to introduce young people to Dadaism, Surrealism, Magic Realism and Neo-romanticism, and the artists involved in these movements. Divided into short and easy-to-read chapters with very lively and colourful graphics, the book offers educational and scientific close-ups, as well as entries on some of the masterpieces by the artists featured in the exhibition, focusing in particular on the oeuvre of Giorgio De Chirico, the artist who strived to “render visible the invisible”.
