Corrispondenze is a series of exhibitions/dossiers that Intesa Sanpaolo is proposing at its museum venues, the Gallerie d’Italia in Milan, Naples and Vicenza, with the aim of juxtaposing and creating a dialogue among the masterpieces of the bank collections, narrowed down to works from prestigious Italian and foreign collections.

The first part of the programme, is De Chirico Encounters Boccioni. The protagonists here are Boccioni’s canvas from the Intesa Sanpaolo Collection, Workshops at Porta Romana, and two magnificent Piazze d’Italia by de Chirico on loan from the Museo d’arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, confirming the consolidated synergy between our institutions. The encounter of the three paintings gives rise to an extraordinary moment allowing opposite representations of the urban space of the early 20th century to engage with each other: from the pre-Futurist interpretation of Boccioni’s early phase, heading towards progress and modernity, to de Chirico’s Metaphysical phase, dominated by the classical ideal.
