The exhibition’s catalogue at the Museo Novecento in Florence presents Georg Baselitz’s graphic production, whose artistic greatness in the field of printmaking has been unanimously acknowledged. Through 160 prints, alongside five paintings and five sculptures, testifying to the multifaceted nature of his artistic research. During his sixty years of activity, Baselitz has consistently refused to confine his eruptive artistic energy within a single technique or style. He has fought his battle alone, defending with inexhaustible determination the practice of art as a solitary experience, much like other great artists of the past. For this same reason, he has always refused to align himself with groups, movements, or artistic currents.

Each sheet confirms how printmaking is an essential activity in the evolution of his work as an artist, allowing him to delve further into the path once opened by painting, to refine specific figurative ideas first expressed on canvas, while testing new, unexplored possibilities.
