Il Crocifisso di Pietro Tacca a Settignano
Restauro di un’inedita cartapesta policroma
Monographsedited by Francesca Baldry Becattini
The book reconstructs the history of a papier-mâché crucifix that has been in the church of Santa Maria in Settignano for centuries and has now been attributed to the sculptor Pietro Tacca, a native of Carrara who trained at the workshop of Giambologna. The description of the research that made it possible to attribute the work to him has gone hand in hand with its restoration, long and quite unusual given the singular medium he used, permitted by in-depth scientific investigation and a detailed comparison with the overall production of Tacca’s workshop.
